Canadian Visa for Luxembourg citizens
Getting a visa to Canada has always come with some kind of inconvenience. Spending many hours at the embassy, delivering documents, waiting for an answer, all of that is not necessary anymore.
Since Canada joined the Visa Waiver program, all you need to do when you want to go to Canada, is to apply for eTA Canada.
This Electronic Travel Authorization system allows the inhabitants of chosen countries to travel to Canada for business or touristic purposes. It is at the same time, an obligation for every traveler from countries listed on the website, to get this permission before they go to Canada. Getting this electronic permission is easy and will take only a few minutes.
Requirements for the citizens of Luxembourg
If you are a Luxembourg citizen, you have the right to apply for an eTA instead of a regular visitor visa. This process is easy, comfortable and hassle-free. However, there are some requirements that you have to meet beforehand.
First of all, you cannot enter the Canadian territory if you are noted for any criminal records or serious abuses. However, there are some exceptions – if your offense is not serious. For example, if you have a speeding ticket or if the statue of limitations of the sentence has expired, you can still apply.
If your situation is not clear you might be asked to send in some additional documents, and your eTA process can take a little longer.
However, in most cases there should be no problem with getting an eTA. Another requirement is to have a valid passport – and the validity of your document must be at least 6 months ahead of your trip.
Because your eTA is automatically connected to your passport, all changes in your passport require applying for a new eTA.
If your passport expires, you lose your passport, or when your passport gets stolen – you will have to apply for your eTA again. You do not need to print your eTA -you need to show your passport to the border officer at the airport, beacuse it is linked to the document.
How to apply and eTA costs
The whole application process is available at our website. Visit our website and find the button “apply”. Then, you will be asked to fill the online questionnaire. Fill it in with your personal details.
It is important to double-check your information before you will send your form. You will also need to put the purpose for your travel, whether it’s a business or tourism. The last essential piece of information is your passport data.
You have to have a biometrical passport which means that your document should have a special electronic chip.
After you fill your questionnaire with your personal data, you will be redirected to the online payment. Then you will be asked to choose your preferred payment method – credit or a debit card, PayPal or another form of payment.
ETA to Canada will cost you only 49 euro and it is valid for 5 years.
During this time you can enjoy multiple trips to Canada – the only condition is that your maximum stay cannot be longer than 6 months at a time.
Your final application result will be sent to your email address within 72 hours maximum. In most cases, the time is shorter (unless you are asked to send in some additional documents, then the processing time can be longer).
