Requirement # 1 - A Valid Passport Number
Before applying for an electronic Travel Authorization visa, you are required to possess a valid passport from a visa exempt country. For an instant, if you hold a passport from a visa exempt country of origin like Ireland, Australia, United Kingdom, and New Zealand, you will need to enter your passport number to obtain eTA. Also note, all other forms of travel documents (except a valid passport from a visa exempt territory) will be declined.
Requirement # 2 - A Valid Email ID
Applying for an electronic Travel Authorization visa is a simple online process. In fact, a wide majority of applicants usually get their eTA approvals within a snap. However, some specific eTA visa approval requests may take a few days to process if the traveler is asked to submit supporting documents.
In the entire process, you will need to use a valid email ID where all of the eTA related information should be directly communicated to you. For example, you will receive a notification email once your online eTA application request is submitted. If you are asked to submit some relevant documents to process your visa, the entire instruction will be communicated to you via email. Once your eTA visa is approved by the Canadian government, you will be immediately notified by email.

Requirement # 3 - A Valid Debit Card or Credit Card
In the online eTA application process, the applicants need to pay an application fee of 39 EUR (once the online form is filled and submitted). Note, the application fee is non-refundable. The applicants can pay the non refundable fee simply using a prepaid credit card or debit card.
The following payment methods are accepted, such as Credit cards (including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express), Debit cards (including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express), JCB Card, and Interac.
Once you have satisfied the aforementioned three requirements and you've paid the application fee, you will obtain your eTA visa and it will be valid for up to 5 years.
